  • Description

    Shrub or small tree, ca 4 m tall, the stems very numerous, the largest ca 10 cm diam; bark brown, smooth but shallow fissured; leaves very unequal in size, aromatic, the abaxials somewhat silvery; flowers fragrant; bracts green and pink; corolla white, the lobes rotate; stamens long exserted, the filaments white, the anthers black. These plants forming a large, dense thicket ca 8m × 8m with the oldest plants in the center and juveniles only 30 cm tall on the periphery. Apparently doing well in shade and dense litter of Pinus strobus. No accession tag found on plants. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
