Specimen Notes
["In his diary for July 3, James described a 'suffruticose' lupine that we believe became the type (NY) of L. decumbens. On that day the pary traveled west from Kuner, Weld County, and finally south up the South Platte River to about three miles south of Platteville, Weld County, Colorado. It is not until July 4 that this 'suffruticose' species is mentioned in the Account. It was observed near their camp, which was seventeen miles farther up the South Platte River near Brighton, Adams County, Colorado." fide Goodman, G. and C. Lawson. Retracing Major Stephen H. Long's 1820 Expedition. University of Oklahoma Press, 1995.]
