  Note: NOTE: Shaw in Mem. New York Bot. Gard 45: 685. 1987 seemed to indicate that the De Notaris [In insulis freti Bonifacii maris Mediterranei, De Notaris] collection should be considered the lectotype. However, this collection has not been found at New York, and it is the Johnson collection that Shaw annotated as type. See also Bryum semicompletum, Bryum semicompletum Mitt., nom. inval.
