Manoa-Palolo Ridge, forest openings on crest,
1,500 ft. alt., slender shrubs 2 - 15 dm tall
leaves chartaceous, green above, paler green
below, calyx wholly green, but in fruit more
less tinged with red; petals orange yellow,
near the base with a maroon eye of streaks
between the veins. Flowers preserved in
alcohol.
