Perennial herb; petals dark pink-purple, glabrous, margins ciliate;
anthers purple; sepals with l mm long apical appendage; pedicel
hairs retrorsely appressed; roots fleshy nearly tuberous, white. In
association with Eurybia divaricata, Plantago media, Trifolium
repens, Taraxacum sp., Cyperus esculentus, Galium sp., Viola sp.,
Artemisia vulgaris and exotic turfgrass species.

Wanted a few purchased plants on a shady driveway embankment.
Since then it has spread across the driveway into the vegetable and
flower gardens and mowed lawn areas.
