Midewin gate, W of perimeter rd. Elev. ca. 530 ft.
Drummond Dolomite Prairie. "Malvastrum hispidum
Site 7", NW comer. Shallow disturbed loamy clay with
gravel over level dolomite bedrock "pavement".
Dry, degraded dolomite prairie with: Ambrosia
artemisiifolia, Sporobolus vaginiflorus, Verbena
simplex, Panicum spp, surrounded by Poa compressa,
Andropogon gerardi. Locally common cactus,
prostrate, ascending pads; fruits tinted brick red; margins
of 'pavement'. With Malvastrum hispidum and Isanthus
brachiatus.
