Cespitóse, bulbs white, ovoid, 10-17 mm,
leaves flat, keeled below, gray-green, 4—6
mm wide, bracts white-margined, folded,
flowers nodding, fragrant, sepals white,
ascending, 16-21 mm, petals 9—10.5 mm,
erect, notched, white on outer surface, with
green U-shaped mark at apex, inner surface
green striped, anthers orange, about 20
clumps and hundreds of flowering stems
naturalized on dry sandy ground, gentle
slope, partial shade, with Quercus alba, Q.
coccínea, Prunus serótina, Rubus,
Taraxacum officinale, mosses, forest edge,
near N end of Mosswood Cemetery (perhaps
bulbs from the cemetery were weeded and
dumped here decades ago), Cotuit, town of
Barnstable, Cape Cod, elev. 15 m, 41.629°
