Thot Not is the name of the district belonging to Cam Tho city. Borassus very common here.
Stems solitary, 15 m tall. Leaves with 70 segments. Roadside stalls sell the soft, sweet
endosperm from immature fruits, and the sweet sap that is tapped from male and female
inflorescences. This is fermented to make an alcoholic drink or boiled down to make sugar.
Leaves are used for thatching. Staminate flowers are used to make a medicine for diabetes.
