POMONA COLLEGE HERBARIUM Oenothera plants branched at base, spreading, 7-8 dpi, high; steins reddish, rather smooth, somewhat hirsute, no red papillae; bracts erect in bud, later spreading and rather persistent; hypanthium and sepals with little red, glandular; sepal-tips con- nivent; petals 25x23mm*; stigma green, the lobes erect; capsule shining, glab- rous but for few stiff hairs, with trun~ cate valves.
