plants almost 2m. tall, erect; stems
l>ranched at base, then relatively simple
except in inflorescence, red, strigose
I and hirsute, with red papillae; hypan-
thium and sepals green; sepal-tips not
quite terminal, divergent; bracts spread-
ing, deciduous; petals 12x13mm., not red
in age; stigma green, lobes connivent;
capsule-valves entire.
