PLANTS OF CALIFORNIA Butte Connty 11177 Lepidium nitidum Nutt.; T. & G. FI. N. A. 1: 116. 1838, A. A. Heller, collector February 10, 1914 In a young olive orchard eight miles north of Oroville, near the western base of Table mountain. Very abundant, and one of the first plants to bloom in early spring, whitening the ground in places. Plants growing on sterile hills are barely an inch high. When plentiful in an orchard it may figure as a cover crop. The lower side of the pod is brownish, convex, the broad pedicels somewhat recurved. The type was collected near Santa Barbara. 03179072
