cision healing process. When the sore of young
boys show signs of healing (ca. 1 month after cir-
cumcision), mothers are told their sons are “com-
ing better”. This fern is then worn by the moth-
ers to show to the village their children’s status.
Kava, pigs, and taro are then prepared when ev-
ery young boy is ready.
