stem Before the availability of nails, cordage
used to fasten posts. Half-inch to one-inch di-
ameter vines are scorched in fire for one minute.
Outer stem is peeled away and the remaining in-
ner stem is used.
leaf Used to treat sores. A handful of yellow
leaves are rubbed together and squeezed on red
abscess twice per day for four to five days. Dis-
continue when sore subsides.
