Taxonomic Studies in the Coreopsidinae Herbarium of The University of Iowa Bidens aurea (Ait.) Sherff 1998 Thomas E. Melchert MEXICO: STATE OF JALISCO Bidens aurea n =23 II 3.2 mi east of junction of Hwy. 35 (between Guadalajara and Chapala) and the road to El Salto and Janacatlan (0.7 mi east of railroad). Plants in standing water of roadside marshland. Note: Stems terete: Leaves narrowly lanceolate (71-277a), pinnatisect (71-277b), or broadly lanceolate (i.e., like B. aurea. 71-277c). Achenes with barbed awns. On whole this population appeared to be more like R schaffheri (n = 11) than other B. aurea populations (n = 23). Thomas E. Melchert, R. Ballard, C.
