73°25'58.97"W; 56 m elevation.
Tree to 9.1 m, tallest tree in the immediate area. Trunk with slight, faint
vertical black diamond shaped stripes at the base. Twig tips gray-glaucous,
older twigs reddish-brown. Catkin scales yellow, tipped in brown.
Anthers yellow, pollen yellow. Growing in a brushy 21 year old old-field
with Juniperus virginiana, Mains, Alliaria petiolata, Prunus serotina, and
Toxicodendron radicans.
