    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the south bank of Rio Solimões opposite of the mouth of Rio Copeá in Mun. Coari, Amazonas. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate the mouth of Rio Copeá. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the land directly across from the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Rio Copeá (confluence of Rio Copeá and Rio Solimões). Because of the difficulty in determining the precise area that may be considered the land across from the mouth of Rio Copeá, georeferenced according to the method described in the Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing, Near a Feature. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent of this area by measuring the linear extent of the mouth of Rio Copeá and then doubling this distance (200% of the linear extent of the mouth of the river). Input coordinates, linear extent (3160.0 m), and measurement error (2.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing, Near a Feature). Coordinates are located approximately 15 miles upstream from (northwest of) the city of Coari.
