Growing at the edge oí s. dry forest in sandy/gravelly soil (Evesboro loamy sand, 0-5% slopes; mesic, coated Lamellic Quartzipsammen ts > Growing with Acer rubrum, Ailanthus altissima, Amelanchier sp., Diospyros virginiana, Eupalorium serotinum (?), Gaylussacia sp., Kalmia latifolia, Parthenocissus quinquefolio, Pi nus echinata, P. rigida, P. virginiana, Prunus serótina, Píeridium aquilinum, Quercus alba (rare), Q. coccínea, Q.falcata x marilandica, Q. marilandica (rare), Q. nonlana, Q. velutina, Rhus copallinum, Rumex acetosella.
