In thorn scrub vegetation along Quebrada Las Peñas between San Juan de la Virgen and Matapalo.

Description
Shrub about 2.5 m. tall; bark smooth and whitish grey with white lichen splotches; trunks spiny with very small stipular spines, several trunks from one base; calyx reddish; corolla yellow one side, red other side; filaments light yellow; anthers lemon-colored. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
