United States of America. New York. Bronx Co. The New York Botanical Garden, eastern escarpment of the Bronx River gorge, ca 4 m S of the Snuff Mill Bridge over the Bronx River.

Habitat
Rocky cliff above the river; in thick, wet humus, the soil very moist (probably from a spring); fallow ground, not cultivated for at least 15 years.

Description
Herb, the stems ascending through humus, etiolated, all aerial parts an even green color. This population consisting of three or four plants growing tightly together, not observed outside cultivation elsewhere in the Garden. Not clear whether these plants are persistent from cultivation or whether they are spontaneous here. Phenology of specimen: Flower and Fruit.
