Description:
Type: Colombia, "Andes mountains," 2160-2520 m, Humboldt & Bonpland s.n. (holotype: P-Humb. & Bonpl., photo F neg. 38225). There are four more sheets of this species collected by Humboldt and Bonpland, one each at B (n.v., specimen destroyed, ACS neg. 176), B-Willdenow (n.v., F neg. 4762), F (ex P), and P. However, since these collections are without number, no isotypes are designated.
