Silty moist areas around spring derived from pumice alluvium in open Pinus jeffryi/Populus tremuloides woodland. Xeric uplands with Artemisia tridentata, Purshia tridentata, Linanthus nuttallii, Cercocarpus. Mesic areas around stream with Betula occidentalis, Rosa woodsii, Equisetum, Smilacina stellata, Pinus contorta. Common.
