Costa Rica. San José. Dota (Canton). San Gerardo. ±5 km SW of Cerro de la Muerte, Albergue de la Montaña, Savegre. Alt. 2350 m. (7710 ft.)

Description:

This is a small bolete, collected here before, with a chesnut colored cap and stipe, similar to G. castaneus, but the tubes are a greenish yellow to yellowish green, unstaining. White basal mycelium. Cap up to 3.5 cm broad, tomentose to finely areolate. Stipe up to 3 cm long, 6 mm broad, equal to slightly broader below, often curved (because of propensity of growing on road banks), dry, finely subpruinose. Flesh white and unchanging with mild odor and taste.
Habitat:

Montane cloud forest. Quercus copeyensis, Q. seemannii. Gregarious. On soil.
