Description:

Pileus 3-11 cm broad, convex to plano-convexto plane, dry, tomentose to matted tomentose, dark red brown (8-9F8) becoming a lighter red brown (7E7-6) with age, often finely areolate at margin withage. Flesh up to 2 cm thick, white, changing slightly to pinkisg when cut, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnate, white at first, becoming pinkish flesh color, staining brown when cut, with pores colored likewise, staining likewise, < 1 mm broad. Stipe 4-9 cm long, up to 2 cm broad, ±equal, dry, white, staining brown when bruised, finely reticulate, with interior white, staining as in pileus.

Quercus oocarpa and Quercus sp. gregarious. soil.
