  • Notes

Updated Nov 2018 (specimen total). Herbaria of Reunion island and of the Scattered Islands are hosted within the CBNM based in Reunion island. They contain samples of terrestrial vascular plants collected in different islands of the western Indian Ocean: Reunion, Europa, Juan de Nova, Glorioso and Tromelin. Among these are 5 661specimens from Reunion Island and 2 898 from the Scattered Islands. These herbaria are completed by samples preserved in alcohol, by seed banks and by a collection in silica gel. Formal partnerships were established since 2014 with the National Museum of Natural History (P, Paris, France) and with the Missouri Botanical Garden (MO, Saint Louis, USA). In 2019, new partnerships have been created with the herbaria of Mayotte (MAO), Geneve (G) and Madagascar (TAN). Since July 2016, data from the herbarium of the Scattered Islands are available online on Tropicos® (search by typing \'CBNM\' in the name of Senior Collector). At the beginning of 2023, the project \\\'Establishment of a protocol for digitization and online sharing of parts of the Scattered Islands herbarium\\\' was accepted thanks to the call for projects \\\'Contribution to naturalist knowledge\\\' of the INPN. The phase of digitization of herbarium parts was thus able to be initiated thanks to the acquisition of equipment and the training of CBNM\\\'s agents. A digitization protocol is being drafted and will subsequently be applied to all of the CBNM\\\'s herbaria. The diffusion of very high resolution images and associated information will be done through a network of partners with online consultation platforms (e-ReColNat network, UMR PVBMT, Muséum National d\\\'Histoire Naturelle de Paris, IRD, Missouri Botanical Garden ).
