    Entered May 2016. The Iranian Cryptogamic Herbarium currently contains mostly lichenized, lichenicolous fungi as well as wood inhabiting macrofungi. This collection has an estimated number of 2000 specimens from Iran, and some duplicates from around the world. ICH contains specimens mainly from Caspian Hyrcanian forests, oak forests in Zagros Mountains, and arid to semiarid ecosystems. It aims to be a resource for biological systematics and classification, diversity and conservation, biotechnological applications, biological monitoring, biodeterioration, bioremediation, climate change, ecology, and pharmaceutical bio-prospecting. The collection is a resource for academics, students, government, private organizations, and the public. The Biotechnology department was established in 1980, and has 22 scientific members from different disciplines of biotechnology, microbiology, mycology and lichenology. The Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) is a governmental organization, founded in 1980, with the aim of providing support to Iranian researchers, inventors and industrialists across the country. This organization provides valuable services in fulfilling the country\\\'s scientific, technical and engineering requirements through supporting applied and developmental research as well as developing new technologies by exploiting qualified experts and modern equipment and facilities.
