Notes
Updated March 2023 (new correspondents, staff, organisational arrangements, updated collections information). The herbarium was established from 1974 when Murdoch University opened, principally to support ecological research and teaching. Situated on the lands of the Whadjuk people, the boodjar (country) of the Murdoch campus has, for thousands of years, been a place of learning. We at Murdoch University are proud to continue this long tradition. Most specimens in the herbarium are from the Southwest, Darling Plateau, Eneabba, Fitzgerald River National Park, and Pilbara regions of Western Australia. Significant sets are from the Murdoch University campus (which retains several areas of native vegetation), bushland remnants around the City of Melville, riverine habitats along the Swan and Canning Rivers, and an area of Queens Park that is now covered with houses. Biosecurity restrictions apply for herbarium material sent to Australia. Please contact the institution before sending any material.
