Description: Two species of hemi-legumes from Fig. 6 in Mori et al. (1997). The drawings are based on plants from French Guiana. Note that the valve of the fruit catches the wind and disperses the hemi-legume.

Definition
A legume fruit in which the seed or seeds and one valve of the pod are dispersed as a unit. The valve catches the wind and blows away with the seeds.
